Outreach

Vancouver First UMC is a church that has long found its identity in reaching out to others. We regularly support community ministries with our hands and feet and our giving. These ministries include: Babies In Need, Ft. Vancouver Seafarers Center, Emergency Shelter Clearinghouse, SHARE Inc., Friends of the Carpenter, United Methodist Commission on Relief (UMCOR), United Methodist Camps, Free Clinic of SW Washington, and others.

Summer Read Book Sale
Need some new books to relax with at the beach this summer? June 12 is your lucky day. We will be holding a book sale with all the proceeds going toward outreach. If you would like to help organize the books for the sale (and get first pick of the titles), call Elizabeth in the church office.

Sweet Dreams

Our focus in June is on Sweet Dreams…providing the feeling of comfort and safety while drifting off to sleep at night. Here’s how you can help:

Smoke Alarm Installation – The Fire Department has received a grant to install 1000 smoke alarms in high risk homes. They will be targeting the homes around the Washington School area and are looking for volunteers to help with installation on June 11, beginning at 11:00am.

Pillow Drive – We are collecting pillows, pillowcases and mattress covers (fitted for twin beds) for the residents at Inn at the Orchards family shelter. Bring your donations to the church any time during the month of June.

Babies In Need – On Sunday, June 26, we will be collecting baby items for the baby layettes provided by Babies In Need to the families of Southwest Washington. Just bring your donations to church and place them in the cradle in the lobby.
