Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh
This is a season of grief in our church. Since the new year we have lost Kay Bushey, Jean Roberts, Gene Walters, and Ruth Green and know that Kathy Neary's days are limited. I have written so many prayers and words of comfort in this time. Sometimes it's like this and it is normal that these seasons bring up other grief. We still have so much we carry from the pandemic, from Jon Short's death, from other beloveds that we have lost along the way, from loss we have expereinced in our very bones, and for loss we know is on the horizon as loved ones age and disease progresses. It is a weighty moment. In times like this it is important we honor our grief and sit with it. This is the power of Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. We are present to death, to sorrow, to all the feelings that come as we experience grief. We also call upon the hope of our faith in these times. Knowing that God is present with us in it all, that we are promised healing and renewal in the next part of existence. Easter tells us that death is never the end in God's story. So in this season be gentle with yourself and others. Try to embrace the big, messy feelings of it all and know that these are holy too and filled with love. Take time to return to the promises of God's hope for a world as described in the book of Revelation where every tear will be wiped away and mourning will be no more. We are ever held in grace and mercy. Blessings, Pastor Eilidh Jean Robert's Memorial Service- March 7th 2pm Ruth Green's Memorial Service- April 11th 2pm Gene Walter's Memorial Service April 18th 2pm |
