This season we are exploring the words, history, and culture of the prophets as we too seek how to live in uncertain times. This week we listened and learned from Jeremiah. Referred to as the weeping prophet, Jeremiah is trying to get the people to see the errors of their idol worship and turn to God. He is imprisoned, others plot to kill him, and he is cast out of community, because he threatens the comfort of the powerful. Jeremiah is often in conflict with those calling for peace and calm in the face of injustice. Despite all the turmoil he remains strong in his faith throughout the 7 decades of his life, always showing a deep clarity for what God is unfolding. As we hear his call story this week we'll unpack some of his wisdom that leads to his deep faith, that we too might be strengthened and steadfast.
