Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh
As the Liturgical Arts team thought about how best to celebrate the season of Easter, which stretches from Easter to Pentecost we thought that now was a moment to create, to notice the sacred in the every day and to practice making the world better. All season we will be engaging with art. This week you will be invited to write poetry during worship. Like the poem in the image, a few words can capture an idea or capture an image. Poetry can seem daunting, but together we will try new things to capture and express the sacred blessings of God and the vision we have for the world.
To prepare try your hand at a haiku This is a poem made up of 3 lines, each with a different syllable count. The first line is 5 syllables The second line is 7 and the third is 5 again They do not rhyme and while often about nature can be about anything
Here is one I found online about the Trinity: Shelter, bread, water: Without you, we are but dust. Sustain us in love.
Here is one Paige and I wrote because she called me when I was working on this article: We are Easter folk Correlating with our God Showing sacred love
Feel free to work with others, as sometimes that is the holy spark creation needs. If you aren’t joining us on Sunday send in your poems so we can add them to our collection of work, and they don’t need to be haikus, this is just a sample to get us started. Blessings, Pastor Eilidh |
