Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh

Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh

Sometimes things fall in to place and sometimes it takes a lot of work for something to happen!  This week is the case of the latter. We had the opportunity to host The Many, an indie, eclectic music collective from Chicago singing music of faith and doubt, hope and lament. Gospel, R&B, Pop, Singer/Songwriter. Martin and I, along with the group, had about 10 days to find a cello, make sure that the singers had a ride to the airport and could make their flight on time, and coordinate the liturgy and plan for Sunday.  It was so fun and kind of wild as we communicated and co-created a very special worship experience for Sunday. I think we will all be profoundly blessed by this special worship so I hope you can join us in person or on YouTube and that you invite those in your life who need some hope and inspiration these days.  The Many makes music to help give voice to faith and doubt, questions and fears, laments and longings, music that speaks to a non-violent God, a Jesus who is with us and for us, and to a Spirit that can't be easily defined or controlled. It's music for a movement of resistance to hatred and division, for reconciliation and restoration, and music that always reminds us "we are on this earth to love.”  I think this is exactly what we all need in these days.  And yes we will still be making art.  We will be playing with sculpting as we reflect on the joy of creation and the beauty of this world.  Worship this week will remind us that we aren’t alone, that God so loves every one of us, and that - we all belong here.

See you Sunday!

Blessings,

Eilidh

Thank you!

Thank you!

What an amazing dessert auction we had

Thank you so much to our generous donor who had the idea to bring back the dessert auction and donated the funds to pay for the meal!  Thank you to Zach from Laverne's Memphis Ribs for a wonderful meal and to Larry & Sue Irish for taking on KP duty!  Thank you to the many other volunteers who planned and organized, prepped tables and decorated, and made this event happen.  Michelle & Michael Mehl, Bev Thomas, Julie Zimmerman, Dean & Mary Lookingbill, William Janney, Sydney Bignell, Allison Long, Jennifer Fitzgerald, Dave & Kristin Griffin, Jan Gist, Tom Musser, Averie Tripp, Cora Holtman and all those who baked and bid! It was such a fun night and we raised just over $2700 for future fellowship activities.
