Guest preacher Rev. Lee Hunefeld will be preaching this week

 

This week I will be out of the office Thursday through Monday.  We are headed to Indiana with our friends to celebrate another friend's 50th birthday. This will be our third trip back to see them since they moved from Portland in 2023 and the first time during the summer.  We have big plans for time on the lake, a concert on the community house lawn, some very competitive croquet and lots of laughter and good food.  Kurt, who is one of the folks now living in Indiana first came into my life in 2003, when I hired him to work for me in the Yakima County AmeriCorps program.  David and Lacey, who are going with us, were the folks who would have taken in Paige if anything had happened to Jeff and I.

While I am away my dear friend Lee will be preaching. He and his wife Peg were close friends of my parents’ and Lee was part of the leadership for my dad’s funeral. He was also my first candidacy mentor back in the late 1990’s, when I was preparing to attend seminary. Peg passed away in 2024, shortly after my mom died, so we know that the 2 of them are causing all sorts os shenanigans for God.

As I prepare for Lee to come be with you and prepare to go see my friends I am so grateful for relationships and those who walk with us in life, in grief, and in love. This is a gift from God and I hope you enjoy Lee as I enjoy the lake!

Sunday School is on break until September 13th!

This summer work begins on the new Vine stop on Main street and 33rd. Be prepared for closed lanes and restricted turns at that intersection. 

We also will have portions of our parking lot closed during installation of our solar array starting next week.  A temporary equipment storage area will be blocking off spaces in the area in red on the image above which will impact Sunday morning parking.
