Worship Script for July 26th
Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh

Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh

I recently realized that the stone on my engagement ring was loose.  About 15 years ago the stone had fallen out in our kitchen when I reached for something on a shelf.  I luckily felt and heard it happen so quickly located the sapphire on the floor!  I did not want to chance losing it again, so I took my ring in to a local jeweler. They recommended that my engagement and wedding bands be welded together as the crown on my engagement ring had some significant ware from the two rings moving against each other.  I had resisted doing this because my engagement ring is from the 1860’s and I am the 5th woman in my family to wear it, but it felt like it was the right time for this step to preserve my ring long term.

When I got my ring back I was initially so upset.  They added in 2 additional prongs since I am so hard on my rings and the bands were much tighter welded together.  It didn’t feel like my ring and it didn’t look like my ring. I really regretted the repair and was angry with myself. It’s been about 2 weeks now and I am once again used to my rings. I love the sparkle of the sapphire and even though it’s a lab created gem and not worth a huge amount, it is the stone Jeff picked for me and I love the color.  And I think the bands are no nice together and the lack of rubbing has meant less irritation to my skin. I love my rings and I am so grateful I had the work done to preserve them for another 24 years of marriage (and more!)

So often when we experience a change, even one we wanted, we struggle with the newness and difference of the moment. As we journey into our second year together and continue to grow as pastor and people changes will happen.  Solar on the roof, work on the chancel, change is coming.  May we all support each other through this dance the Holy Spirit is leading us on and may we find delight in the new once it is upon us.

Blessings,

Pastor Eilidh
