Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh
Today I am practicing patience. I had just turned off all the computers at church when I found out the solar crew is not ready to do the part of the project that requires the power to be shut off for the day. This means all the work we did to close the office and prepare will have to be done on another, less ideal day. Most likely Monday the 3rd of August. So Yarn & More will be crafting in the dark. Sarah will begin her first day on staff as our Cultivator of Land & Belonging without air conditioning. The team moving the finance office to the admin office won’t be able to check if we set up the computer properly. That is of course unless there is another construction delay, which means here I am, practicing patience. We have come so far with the solar project, with adding new staff, with funding the Allegro! Project that we can easily manage this bump in the road. There is so much goodness unfolding, and I am particularly exited to get to work with Sarah. She is part of the lay order of Deaconesses and is committing 25 hours a week to ministry for the next 10 years, unpaid! We get to benefit from her calling to creation justice and community. She will be working with stakeholders throughout the church to convene a team to develop a 10 year plan for our building exterior. She will also be helping us create systems of welcome for Sunday mornings and ways to invite people into shared community life. We gave her a fancy title- Cultivator of Land and Belonging because coordinator and developer sounded too corporate, while cultivator really brings forth the theology of helping to grow good things, which is exactly the work to which Sarah is called by God here and now. So I have been patiently waiting for Sarah to start, for the solar to be ready, for the Allegro! Project to be funded, and we are so, so close! May you join me in being patient as we continue to live into all the goodness God is pouring out on us.
Blessings, Pastor Eilidh |
