The 2026 Budget team asks you to please remember to turn in your pledge for 2026. Our budget process starts with our pledges and any missing pledges creates difficult choices for the 2026 budget. You can turn in a pledge card or use the online form at https://www.vanfumc.org/pledge.

A note from the Mission Team

Thank you all who helped complete our recent drive that created 40 food boxes for families in need whose children attend for one of our neighborhood schools – Washington Elementary!! Our congregation brought in over 410 items, donated over $1,990, and delivered all boxes to the school last Sunday. Way to step up, First Church!!

Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh

The candle we light on the first Sunday in Advent is the HOPE candle. Last week we sure embodied hope! With our young people leading us, with activity and celebration we saw that first glimmer of light in our midst. This week's candle is PEACE. This is a peace that we encounter after hard conversations. It's the peace we know when justice prevails. It's not the absence of strife or turmoil, but the intentional state we achieve when we work through those things. Where are you seeing the glimmers of hope and peace this week?

Keep looking for Christ is surely breaking into the world!
