How Are We Connected?

This week begins our new communications strategy.  Each week we will send out the prayer list on Tuesdays.  It links to the prayer page on our website which is password protected. (The password is VanPrayers). This means you can check that link any time to see updates throughout the week. Even if you miss an email you can still be connected to others in prayer.

We'll also be sending out a weekly email with highlights of what's happening in the week, what's planned for worship, the prayer link, and a few upcoming events and quick news.  This will help connect us all to the rhythm of each week and give us time to prepare ourselves for worship through the scriptures.

Monthly starting in November we'll send out a newsletter with lots of content about the coming month and beyond. This will go out via email and be sent via snail mail.  If you know of folks who are feeling disconnected from our church please let us know so they can be added to our mailing list!

Our website has gotten a refresh with new calendars posted with all of our music ministry info and dates of all church meetings. See the events page for of our website for all of our special events, learning opportunities, and small groups! Again these pieces help us connect to what is happening in our community and allow us to connect to each other by participating in different aspects of our church life. Join the dinner group at Applebee's one week, see if bell ringing is right for you another, and maybe try your hand at crochet some time!

October is Compost Month!

October is Compost Month!

“The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it; the world and all who dwell therein.”

(Psalm 24:1)

Decaying food (process minus oxygen) in landfills produces methane – a powerful greenhouse gas, 84 times more damaging than carbon dioxide. Solution? Compost that food! Composting ads in oxygen to the process and produces nutrient rich soil. Compost added to the gardens retain water, produces healthier plants and can even pull carbon dioxide out of the air (a process called carbon sequestration)! It’s Earth’s finest form of recycling.
