For the past couple of months a group of folks have gathered to talk about how we share our building. We've told stories about funerals past, remembered difficult mothers of the bride, and thoughtfully discussed our building partners and how we use and care for our spaces. This has been some of the most productive work I have been part of in a church. We have developed new policies, a new user agreement, a new donation schedule, and guides for funerals and weddings. All of this will be coming before church council for adoption at our next meeting on October 28th. I am so proud of the work of this team and of the care given to our connection to the wider community.  As a result of this work we have already partnered with Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Oxford House, and the Vancouver Children's Choir. 

Care for our building and systems help us be better connected to our community. Having clear ways to partner and host others will further our relationship with outside entities. These decisions also help us better care for those who are grieving or those who are celebrating marriage. I am so grateful for those who have taken on this task and helped our church grow in this way.
