Thoughts from Pastor Eilidh
Folks who dropped by the office last week got the chance to meet two special guests, Diana and Cruise, my new kittens. Our elder statesman cat Max needed some time to adjust to these new fluffballs of energy so for a little while the kittens were joining me in the office during the week. Animals have always been part of my home, since I was a little girl. There is something special about sharing our lives with creatures. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement believed that cats, dogs, and horses would all be with us in heaven! I have to admit however that it’s a weird moment to adopt these little guys. Our older cat is showing signs of slowing down, and Paige is taking her cat to school this fall, now that she is no longer in the dorm. I have been thinking a new cat was on the horizon for us, but not yet! Then I went to a retreat at the Collins Retreat Center outside Sandy. My friend, who is the chef there, had taken in a feral mama cat who had given birth to two kittens just a few weeks earlier. It felt like the right thing, this opportunity to keep this sibling pair together, to be connected to my friend who did so much to care for the babies, and to prepare for the future when our house might not have any cats. It was a moment when life felt especially hard and grief-full. We cannot predict the timing, but we can respond to the moments before us. We cannot always fix or solve the problems before us, but sometimes a little whimsy and joy can get us through. And these sweet fluffy friends are helping me through a busy season for sure! May you find places of delight and joy in God's unexpected blessings! Pastor Eilidh |

Sacred Conversation
Following worship this week we will hold a time of sacred conversation in Jason Lee Hall for anyone who wants space to talk and lament regarding Michael Wilmington and the heartbreaking revelations coming out. Pastor Eilidh will provide this space for healing and grief. |
